For the safety of participants, spectators and volunteers, the Royal Oak Police Department is transitioning the annual Run with the Police 5K to a virtual event to be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020. This event is an incentive for individuals to stay active, stay healthy and stay safe.
“We are in uncertain, challenging, and anxiety-filled times. We are hoping this community event can provide some active fun and maybe a little relief,” said Corrigan O’Donohue, Royal Oak Police Chief.
As a virtual run, registrants can run any 5K course they desire, whether it is in their neighborhood, on a treadmill, around the house, or even on their porch. All participants will receive a bib, race shirt, medal, finisher’s certificate, and the ability to upload their virtual times to see how they rank amongst their peers and the police.
The “Run with The Police” is celebrating its third year. In the first two years, the event has hosted over 1,500 participants and spectators with a great course through Royal Oak, incredible food from local vendors, and an experience that featured fun for the entire family. This year, we’d like your continued participation from the comfort of your neighborhood and make even more family memories together.
